Is the deposit service free for buyers?

Buyers pay a processing fee when placing a deposit (see how much here). The processing fee is only refunded in case the breeder/seller cancels the deposit. If you decide to cancel the deposit, the processing fee will not be refunded. The deposited amount will be refunded back to your bank account within 4 full working days.

Is the deposit service free for sellers?

Yes, the service is completely free for sellers.

Should I be concerned if the seller of the pet refuses to use the Pets4Homes deposit service?

We recommend that you take extra care and reference our pet checklists before transferring a deposit to a seller who refuses to use the deposit service. Always walk away and report the seller if you have any reason to believe that the seller is not genuine.

Do I have to use the Pets4Homes Deposit Service?

No. We strongly advise against sending deposits directly to people you have not met as you will be exposing yourself to the risk of fraud. We strongly recommend using the service, as it gives you as a buyer significantly more control and protection.

When should I as a buyer accept a transfer request?

It is up to you and the seller to agree on when it is suitable to transfer the deposit, however our recommendation is that the deposit only should be transferred once you are confident that the seller is genuine and after you have had the opportunity to view the pet (either digitally or in person).

What do I do if I encounter a bank payment error?

Make sure you have entered the correct bank details and have sufficient funds in your account.

Where can I see my payment status?

Under “My Deposits” you can see the status of your payment and where you are in the deposit process. For example, once your payment has been transferred to the seller the status will say ‘’Transfer completed’’.

What happens if I cancel the deposit?

If you cancel the deposit before you have accepted the seller’s transfer request you will get a full refund of the deposit within 4 business days. However, we won’t be able to refund the processing fee. If you cancel the deposit due to animal welfare concerns, please report the seller and contact our support team. In case you would like to receive a refund of the deposit after you have transferred it to the seller, you should raise this with the seller directly. Once the deposit has left Pets4Homes, we have no ability to claim the deposit back from the seller.
